How We Shot
Our Own AD

Idea

We decided to create a story about the search for a mysterious creative agency known for its flawless organization, professionalism, and unique approach to clients.

The challenge we faced was to recreate the visual style and atmosphere of thrillers like Mindhunter, Dark, or Longlegs, blending tension and mystery into a cohesive narrative.

With this project, we wanted to demonstrate that, even with significantly lower financial resources, we are capable of recreating shots characteristic of well-known cinematic productions.

Pre-Production

SCRIPT

After defining the concept, we developed the story and the script.

After completing the script, we created a shot list to ensure that every element of the story would be captured in the film.

SHOOTING BOARD

The next step was analyzing thrillers Mindhunter, Dark and Longlegs We analyzed their style and the types of shots we wanted to recreate.

SCENOGRAPHY

To capture the atmosphere of a detective case, we created an evidence board that included elements referencing our past clients.
An investigation board full of connections. The central element of the set design, featuring photos, articles, and leads inspired by real projects.
A fragment of an article serving as one of the key pieces of evidence - a subtle reference to the history of collaboration with a specific client, presented in the form of a press piece.
A physical piece of evidence mentioned in the article - a real object integrated into the board, reinforcing the investigative narrative and highlighting the attention to detail.

Production

The production phase lasted three days, and the story took place entirely within a single room.
Thanks to strategic lighting techniques, thoughtful framing, and changes in set design, we managed to conceal the limitations of the location.
As a result, the viewer may get the impression that the film’s action unfolds in various settings.

Post-Production

VFX

The final shot of the film is a stylized police photograph, known as a “mugshot,” depicting the discovered suspects.

The scene was filmed in front of a blue screen, and then using keying techniques – a background imitating the interior of a police station was added, which emphasized the investigative atmosphere and gave the shot greater authenticity.

The final effect was embedded and animated within the context of physical photographs pinned to an evidence board.

Final result

Thanks to precise lighting and carefully selected set design, we achieved our goal of creating a commercial that recreates the shots we were inspired by, all while tying everything together into a cohesive story.
